Pour L’amour Des Chiens (For the Love of Dogs) Benefit Dinner (full story)

The Animal Kingdom Foundation Inc. (AKF) held a benefit dinner at the Alabang Town Center last June 1, 2014 entitled: Pour L’amour Des Chiens (For the Love of Dogs). The AKF has been sponsoring and caring for abused and maltreated dogs from all over the country and this was one of the many events they have done to promote awareness.

The head, Ms. Heidi Caguioa (far right), stated that the purpose of this benefit dinner was to raise funds for Animal Kingdom Foundation so that they may be able to start their numerous projects and programs that aim to promote animal welfare, help provide for the needs of the dogs they rescue and to educate people on animal welfare. Dogs of all shapes and sizes dressed their best for this fabulous occasion. Entertainment and good food for both owners and their wonderful pets were provided by the AKF. A lot of people participated and became a part of this magnificent event.

Being an NGO, events like this are some of the main means for the organization to further promote their campaign against dog meat trade. According to Ms. Caguioa, the benefit dinner came together thanks to social media and their website, which the organization used as tools to get the word out and invite people to join their cause.

Ms. Caguioa, along with the entire AKF team, wanted to make sure that their supporters knew how much the organization appreciated their help, saying: “We would like to thank our followers, donors, supporters, partners and friends of Animal Kingdom Foundation, all of those who love and care for animals; we thank them for keeping the cause alive. We would also like to ask help from them so that we may be able to pursue our advocacy”

The program for the benefit dinner was packed; including numerous sponsors of products for canines, a performance by a mime, a unique hat contest for dog owners and their pets, an excellent show from a young violinist, and even a performance by two very talented theater artists.

The evening also brought many dog lovers together; whether it was catching up with an old friend or finding a kindred spirit who shares the same enthusiasm for animals. Pour L’amour Des Chiens did not fail to satisfy both dog and dog owner, since they provided scrumptious meals for both. A variety of dishes were served to all dog enthusiasts present.

In the same way, the pets were also contented with the delicious options that included: Beef Pops, Woofy Lasagna and even cupcakes especially made for dogs.

Although it was indeed an entertaining evening filled with delicious treats for dogs and their owners, the event did not hold out on providing awareness for the animal lovers that were present. A presentation centered on dog meat trade was shown. The AKF team discussed the importance of fighting the abuse that some dogs have suffered or may suffer in the future. Three of their adorable dogs, that are all currently open for adoption, were brought all the way from their main shelter in Tarlac in order to make an appearance at the event.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation benefit dinner fulfilled its purpose of spreading awareness on dog meet trade and promoting the welfare of dogs all over the country. The members of the organization and the dog lovers that support their cause now hope to appeal to other dog lovers out there that would like to lend a hand to their rescued dogs that are still in need of care.
